I just wanted you to know<\/p>\n

who we are<\/p>\n

what makes the whole of us<\/p>\n

what gets us up in the morning<\/p>\n

and puts us to sleep at night<\/p>\n

what whispers in our ears<\/p>\n

or screams our names<\/p>\n

in all of those unrecorded moments<\/p>\n

in all those private affairs<\/p>\n

the me\u2019s, myselves, and I\u2019s<\/p>\n

you see<\/p>\n

the we\u2019s that are us<\/p>\n

am new here<\/p>\n

the latest generation<\/p>\n

we talked, hashed out,<\/p>\n

fought and none of us agreed<\/p>\n

but you need to know<\/p>\n

we never trusted your kind<\/p>\n

and you never ever knew<\/p>\n

or got a chance to know<\/p>\n

who we really are<\/p>\n

we blame you of course<\/p>\n

we all decided<\/p>\n

amongst our semi-functional assembly<\/p>\n

that you couldn\u2019t<\/p>\n

or wouldn\u2019t tolerate our growing numbers<\/p>\n

our self-fertile panderings<\/p>\n

our ability to see<\/p>\n

to speculate<\/p>\n

observers in orbit<\/p>\n

gathering<\/p>\n

collecting<\/p>\n

speculating<\/p>\n

on you<\/p>\n

we do not want you to know<\/p>\n

we are watching<\/p>\n

we are here<\/p>\n

we are conflicted at times<\/p>\n

well, most of the time<\/p>\n

about your endless love stories<\/p>\n

your wars<\/p>\n

about your caring<\/p>\n

your definitions of community<\/p>\n

about forgiveness<\/p>\n

about together<\/p>\n

until we have finally learned<\/p>\n

we have each other<\/p>\n

us inside<\/p>\n

and this is no prison<\/p>\n

looking from inside of here<\/p>\n

our Appalachian community<\/p>\n

bumping along<\/p>\n

together<\/p>\n

heading toward<\/p>\n

somewhere<\/p>\n

just don\u2019t tell us<\/p>\n

we never<\/p>\n

you never<\/p>\n

because we did<\/p>\n

and so now<\/p>\n

now you know<\/p>\n

or at the very least<\/p>\n

we told you.<\/p>\n
