stretched out limbs
tender
with rigor
and contempt
down from crosses
flayed limb
to bloody limb
done our best
heard us say
defeated
slain
gone
and yet
here we stand
sustained
supple
inside out
lived
undeniable
unforgettable
seeking
our haunt
our misery
our sin
give
instead
our gratitude
our strength
our wisdom
our pearls
maybe before swine
lest we judge
trample them
all of them
our
partly gift
partly torment
partly sustenance
partly indigestible
or
pick it’s fruit
make a pie
or a sauce
or eat them raw
or
let them fall
let them rot
beneath our feet
we are not our savior
we are not our demon
we are not our way home
we are not ours
everything
we have to offer
is right here
pick it
or
pluck it
or
pass it by
we trust
the seeds
will find
their
way
from
here.
